Seraphim, In Loving Memory

Seraphim (“Sera”), April 8, 2007 – April 6, 2022

Our certified therapy puppy was almost 15 years old and a valued member of our staff. Sera was a foreclosure rescue during the 2008 mortgage meltdown. She was very smart and very willing to please. With training, she earned her American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizens Award and was certified as a therapy animal by the East Bay S.P.C.A. Her duties included visiting shut-ins and dementia care residents in the community and attending client meetings at our firm. Beyond our four walls, Sera served as the building greeter welcoming visitors to Hookston Square

We discovered that Sera had a “super-power”. Always well-behaved; she greeted our clients before meetings and then took her accustomed place lying underneath the conference table. However, if a client was grieving the loss of a loved one, Sera immediately woke up, went to the client, placed her head in their lap, and waited patiently until their tears stopped.

Sera was a friend of everyone in our office complex. Her greatest failing? Coming along when she was busy visiting her friends.

Someone once said that a border collie is either
a perpetual three-year-old or an angel in disguise.
We will miss our angel.
